Biroj Kumar Singh, a YASP Fellow from Bhubaneswar, is advocating for discrimination-free academic spaces for Dalit and Adivasi youth.
Recognising that mental health cannot thrive in environments shaped by exclusion and unequal treatment, Biroj submitted a formal application to the Director of Higher Education, Chhattisgarh. He called for stronger enforcement of campus mental health services, implementation of UGC welfare guidelines, establishment of SC/ST Cells and improved psychological and academic support systems.
Through this process, he engaged over 100 stakeholders to push for institutional accountability and equitable student well-being.
The Outlive YASP Fellowship Dialogues brings together YASP Fellows and sector experts to explore why youth engagement in policy matters for suicide prevention — and what needs to shift to make it impactful.
